Jewels & Treasures has been in business for over 25 years. They specialize in pet and wildlife themed merchandise. Having some of the most unique and adorable products on the market, Jewels & Treasures' products are in demand by animal lovers everywhere.
The Situation
In 1999, Jewels & Treasures had been in business for 25 years. The core business was composed of doing expositions, and county fairs. The business was doing well but, like all businesses it was looking for another revenue stream.
The internet offered a unique opportunity for Jewels & Treasures. The products were so unique that they could not be found anywhere else on the internet. Even today competition is very light.
The website needed to be easy to use, extensible, organized, and clean. The site needed to feature a customer registration process and an easy to use checkout procedure. Many products had to allow customers to select a shirt size.
In 2003, Jewels & Treasures needed a database for customer mailing addresses to send out promotions. The database needed to allow customers to be entered by their interested breeds of animals. This would allow Jewels & Treasures to easily target specific customers for promotions.
